Is the bullet train Network a beneficial proposition for India ?

Team -The Grand Canyon

Day -1

Hello everyone, my name is Nisha Kumari, I'm from the team The Grand Canyon, and my team members are Madina, Jitendra and Shahnawaz, our topic is ''Is the Bullet train network is a beneficial proposition for India?'' So we know that train is an important role in any country because it will play a major role, and It will create a big revolution in our country.

I want to grow your attention to the bullet train, why do we need this thing? So, if you want to know, we need to analyse about of bullet train. Nowadays, when everything in the world is going fast then there is a question how to boost our railway system by which we can finish our journey too fast, then in our mind always comes the name of the too fast train which is "Bullet train" which is world fastest train (270 km/h - 300lm/h).

For the bullet train, we have to make a network, in this article we will know that network if we make in India then is that will benefit or not? We will talk about the Advantages of Bullet train, Also disadvantages, Impact in India, Can India afford that, In which part of India we should make bullet rain network?

Bullet Train in India

Why it is called bullet train:- Bullet train is called a high-speed rail type of rail transport that runs significantly faster than traditional rail traffic, it's a high-speed network built. The first bullet train was started in Japan in 1964 from Shinkansen to Tokyo.

  • In India, the upcoming Mumbai- Ahmadabad bullet train in India, which is in construction mode, will be India's high-speed rail project. It was started in September 2017.
  • In December 2015, when our prime minister visited Japan, The prime minister of both the countries decided to co-finance a detailed joint feasibility study for the Mumbai- Ahmadabad HSR. The Japan internal cooperation agency (JICA) was given the go-ahead for the study in September 2017.

Why bullet trains are needed? :

  • It is very friendly for our environment, and it will help to reduce pollution and saving fuel.
  • It will save your time, you know that in the old days' trains were always take time to drop you but now, you can go from one place to another place within very little time.
  • High-speed travel to the destinations of your choice, as well as frequent and punctual departures.
  • Rail passes that include travel on bullet trains will save you money and time travelling through Japan.

 Day-2

Why choose the travel of bullet train?

One question will come to our mind, why did we choose the travel of the bullet train? So answer Is because the pass can be used on limited express trains of the Kyushu Railway Co. in ordinary reserved and non-reserved seating, and on ordinary trains of the Kyushu Railway Co. in the designated area for the pass. "Bullet Trains - ACP Rail"

Do you think that travelling by bullet train is a safe way of travel?

According to a national safety council review of 10 years of transportation fatalities for every mile travelled, just like a car, driver and passenger are more than 10 times as likely to die in accidents as passenger railed riders.

Which country help India in bullet train project the ministry of railways based on the recommendation of the (NITI Aayog) announced that Shinkansen technology would be eloped off the line with technology transfer to support the make in India programme, Japan would also provide staff training.

The First Indian Bullet train - According to (https://www.clearias.com/bullet-trains-india/ ) India's first bullet train will run from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. That construction was started in September 2017. It has 508 kilometres H.S.R.C (High-Speed Rail Corridor). That project was started for built with the help of Japan.
As per the article (https://www.clearias.com/bullet-trains-india/), The bullet train's speed is 320kmph and this project will estimate to complete in 2022.

Seating capacity or classes:-

  • The train has three separate classes namely business class, Green class or ordinary class.
  • Shinkansen train, configured with ten cars, has a capacity to carry 731 passengers.
  • 658 seats of ordinary class, 55 seats are in green class, 18 seats are in business class.

 Day-3

India's first High-Speed Railway Corridor - After the agreement of the bullet train, the construction of the High-Speed Railway Corridor (H.S.R.C)  is started in 2017. The length of corridor 508 km is under construction between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and its operating speed is 320 km/h. A high-speed railway corridor will be made with Shinkansen technology, this technology will adopt from Japan, and it will help to make a high-speed railway corridor.

This will help the passenger on the corridor to cover the distance from Mumbai to Ahmedabad within 2 or 3 hours. This project was targeted for completion in December 2023 but After the pandemic situation, the Government is expected to complete it in 2028. The government is planned in future 18 corridors for will be made in all India.

How Maglev trains work

SC Maglev, or superconducting magnetic trains, were developed by the Central Japan Railway Company and the Railway Technical Research Institute beginning in the 1970s. Maglev trains work on the principle of magnetic repulsion between the cars and the track. The word Maglev is actually a combination of the words “magnetic” and “levitation.” The magnetic levitation, or floating of the train, is achieved through the use of an electrodynamic suspension system, or EDS.

The rails, or guideways, contain two sets of cross-connected metal coils wound into a “figure eight” pattern to form electromagnets. On the train, itself, are superconducting electromagnets, called bogies. When stopped, the train rests on rubber wheels. To begin the motion, the train moves forward slowly on these wheels, allowing the magnets beneath the train to interact with those of the guideway. Once the train reaches 150 kilometres per hour (93 miles per hour), the magnetic force is strong enough to lift the train 100 millimetres (4 inches) off the ground, eliminating friction to allow for increasingly high speeds.

The same magnetic forces that lift the train also move it forward and keep it centred within the guideway. This is the same technology used by Tesla’s Hyperloop, which makes the ride smooth and the train exceptionally safe.

Japan's loan, of almost Rs. 88,000 crores at a minimal interest rate of 0.1%, has to be repaid over 50 years. Repayment will begin only after 15 years. The first tranche of the loan, Rs 6,000 crore, will be released immediately, while the remaining tranches will come after the completion of the land acquisition.

 Day- 4

What is the difference between Bullet Train and Normal train?

Normal old train

Normal old trains are the most popular mode of transportation from the 19th century. The first steam train was built in the year 1804. People thought that the speed of the trains would make the people unconscious. Because the train makes a huge sound of whistles. After some time, trains became more advanced and today it is one of the best and the most reasonably priced mode of transportation to long distances.

 Bullet Train

Trains that move at a speed of 250 km/h or above are referred to as bullet trains. For safety reasons, the speed limits might also be lowered. There are a total of 16 nations that have these bullet trains. China has 27000 km tracks for high-speed trains and this is the longest track in the world. Other countries like Germany, France etc. have as many as 1000 kilometre long tracks dedicated for high-speed trains.

Advantages and Disadvantages of  Bullet Trains in India.

Advantage of Bullet trains:-

  • Speed is a big advantage of Bullet trains Because the world is growing very fast if we want to move forward in development for the country so need to take advantage of bullet trains, it will be very helpful to transportation to save time and connect with cities in a less time.
  • Bullet trains are very highly comfortable for passengers, and they enjoy the journey without any problem.
  • If we talk about safety, so we know that Japan has a good record of safety, Ever since the bullet trains started in 1964, the Shinkansen has reported zero fatalities.
  • On the Indian railway, people always facing overcrowding, but after the bullet, train overcrowding will be reduced.
  • People will be got opportunities for employment.

Limitations of Bullet train:-

  • Its big disadvantage is the cost of construction, as per a report estimated to cost up to Rs 100 crore a kilometre. After summing up the costs of signals, rolling stock, etc, the cost can rise up to Rs 115 crore. Operation and maintenance costs would also be high.
  • This Project is a very long process and time-consuming, implementation of the plan taking years.
  • The biggest problem is that government will acquire land from Mumbai's slum area for laying tracks, it might trigger anger amongst commoners whose everyday living might come under menace.
  • The expenses and maintenance is an issue. One way fare on the Mumbai-Ahmadabad route is projected to be around Rs 5,000. Quite a few Indians would be able to afford travelling with these expenses. And even those who would be willing to pay such a high price might prefer travelling by plane instead.
  • At the present time, India's present condition is not too good for the implementation of this project due to the coronavirus.

Conclusion

In final words, we can say that India has one of the largest rail Network's in the world carrying almost 20 million passengers every day and more than 89 major accidents have taken place since 2000 which implies Indian railway tracks need to be modernized. Therefore this huge sum of the money should be invested in these projects as a priority rather than investing in (HSR)

India aspires to become the third-largest economy in the next 25 years. It has already proven its prowess in the field of space and now is the time for furthering its international stature by joining the exclusive club of nations having a high-speed rail network.

Everything will have an array of pros and cons. It lies in ones’ wisdom to weigh them equally and choose the path. Technological development comes at a cost but the safety of our citizens should not be a value-added.

Day 5

Report

Is the bullet train network a beneficial proposition for India?
Report on 15sep 2021

Abstract

The Bullet train is the world fastest train, which is invented in Japan. The fastest train the world had ever seen was launched in Japan in 1964. The first Shinkansen, or bullet train, ran between Tokyo and Osaka and had a top speed of 210km per hour. Isao Makibayashi, one of the train's first drivers, spoke to Witness History about his excitement at working on the bullet train line.

Our Prime minister Mr Modi announced about a project, it is The Bullet train will acquire for India. This project was started in September 2017 and its work is still under construction.

Introduction

Nowadays, when everything in the world is going fast then there is a question how to boost our railway system by which we can finish our journey too fast, then in our mind always comes the name of the too fast train which is "Bullet train" which is world fastest train (270 km/h - 300lm/h).

In this topic we are discussing the bullet train, we have to make a network, in this article we will know that network if we make in India then is that will benefit or not? We will talk about the Advantages of Bullet train, Also disadvantages, Impact in India, Can India afford that, In which part of India we should make bullet rain network?

The Primary Problem with the existing railway system.

Nowadays as per present condition and demand, we need to boost our Railway system because there are many limitations on our railway system just like.

1. How Maglev trains work has a very less speed if comparison with another country railway system.

2. It is not more Eco friendly.

3. People are struggling from the old train because it will not on arrival on time and it will also late to reach a destination.

4. Our railway system is taking too much time to reach one destination to another destination.

5. Business also affected the lack of on-time transportation in the Indian railway system.
6. People are not feeling safer in our Indian railway system.

7. Old railway system is taking too much fuel for running the train.

How do Maglev trains work?

Advantages of Bullet train

• Speed is a big advantage of Bullet trains Because the world is growing very fast if we want to move forward in development for the country.

• Bullet trains are very highly comfortable for passengers, and they enjoy the journey without any problem.

• It will provide safety for passengers.

• On the Indian railway, people always facing overcrowding, but after the bullet, train overcrowding will be reduced.

• People will be getting opportunities for employment.

Limitations of Bullet trains

• It's big limitations is that if we need bullet train in India so we need to spend money on construction on bullet train and corridor.

• This Project is a very long process and time-consuming, implementation of the plan taking years.

• The 3rd biggest problem is that government need to acquire lands for the corridor.

• The expenses and maintenance is an issue, after launching the bullet train in India we it's required to maintain on time.

• At the present time, India's present condition is not too good for the implementation of this project due to the coronavirus.

Conclusion:-

In final words, we can say that India has one of the largest rail Network's in the world carrying almost 20 million passengers every day and more than 89 major accidents have taken place since 2000 which implies Indian railway tracks need to be modernized.
